For the love of an organised home, work and family

With a hectic work life, I’ve always been busy balancing an organised home, work and family. Throughout my whole career, the prime focus was to support small business owners (mostly women) to achieve their hopes and dreams. Being Danish, home has been hugely important to me. Probably because Hygge {hue-gah}, the Danish concept of living well, is all about home and considered by most Dane’s to be the key to happiness.

I am no minimalist, far from it! My home is a period cottage where I enjoy being creative and always have a project, or two, on the go. This does mean, I need to be organised to think clearly and enjoy life.

Why Professional Organising?

When I left a long business career I discovered The Marie Kondo concept. This inspiring system allowed me to transform my home and banish clutter once and for all. Something fell into place and I saw a way to combine my love of helping people achieve their personal goals with my passion for a well-functioning, organised, comfortable home –  The Organised Home & Life was born.

Why I work with The KonMari Method®

The Marie Kondo method is not just about decluttering, it is really about the kind of life you want to experience. I was already naturally organised but just had way too much stuff from downsizing, sentimental things from my parents’ homes and the trappings of working for a fashion company – lots of clothes.  Along with very little time, there was plenty to challenge me. Working through the KonMari Method® did involve commitment, but this was quickly rewarded by absolute elation as I saw and felt the results. Without the structure and clear guidance, it would have been easy to give up before the finish line, as I had many times before. In retrospect, I had no idea that clutter and owning too many things had such a big impact on my peace of mind. The process left me feeling like a burden had been lifted –  I could think clearly and sleep better after every step.

Now, getting dressed is a pleasure as I only own clothes I love, and I no longer dread putting away the shopping in over-stuffed cupboards. With a place for everything, clutter is a thing of the past. These days, time is a precious commodity – so achieving an organised home and life, in a way that’s effective and long- lasting, creates more time in the long run, for enjoying life. I absolutely love what I do and truly believe that everyone deserves a home that works for them – a place to fully-recharge and relax.
